Nestled within one of the hidden valleys of the Stroud Valleys in the Cotswolds, The Firs is more than a sauna—it is a destination.

Your journey begins the moment you step onto the path leading to The Firs. A gentle seven-minute walk through a breathtaking valley, embraced by towering trees and birdsong, gradually draws you away from the busyness of everyday life and its endless to-do lists. With every step, the pace slows, the mind quietens, and your body begins to settle into a state of presence long before you reach the warmth of the sauna.

The Firs emerges quietly from the landscape, nestled beneath the shelter of towering fir trees and overlooking the open valley, as though it has always belonged here.

Why We Created The Firs

The Firs was never created simply as a place to enjoy a sauna. It began as a deeply personal vision—our desire to create a sanctuary where we could slow down, reconnect with nature and spend meaningful time with family and friends.

Together, we continue to lovingly shape this corner of the valley, landscaping the surrounding land and handcrafting every detail of the sauna with intention. We want to create a space that reflects the values we live by every day: simplicity, beauty, presence, connection, craftsmanship and a deep respect for the natural world.

A Place Where Life Slows Down

As we sat here overlooking the valley, watching the changing seasons unfold, we realised that spaces like this have become increasingly rare. Places where people can simply slow down. Where conversation flows more easily, silence feels comfortable, and the natural world gently reminds us of what truly matters. Places where we gather with intention, honour life’s transitions, and remember the timeless power of ritual, ceremony and shared presence.

It felt only natural to begin sharing The Firs with others.

Whether you are seeking quite solitude, celebrating a special occasion, gathering with family or close friends, or creating space for ceremony, ritual or intentional connection, The Firs offers more than a private sauna experience.

It offers an immersive experience where heat, cold and tranquility of nature come together.

A place where life slows down.

Where you can breathe more deeply.

And reconnect with yourself, with one another and with the natural world.

We simply ask that everyone who visits honours this place with the same love, care and respect with which it was created.

Crafted with Intention

Every line, every junction and every material has been thoughtfully considered. Handcrafted by Chris after more than twenty-five years of bespoke carpentry, The Firs reflects a philosophy of building that values longevity, natural materials and meticulous craftsmanship over shortcuts or mass production.

We’ve made a conscious decision to use premium ecological and locally sourced materials wherever possible—chosen not only for their beauty and longevity, but also to minimise harmful off-gassing and unnecessary toxins in the very space where you come to rest, restore and breathe deeply. This includes locally sourced Western red cedar used for the sauna’s internal cladding, selected for its natural warmth, durability and beautiful aroma.

WOMEN’S REFLECTIONS

I joined Somatic Immersion retreat following a recent fibroids diagnosis. I’d been experiencing lower back discomfort, and targeted stretches with focus on the pelvis made a noticeable difference. I woke up completely pain free

It was such a calming experience where I was able to reconnect with my mind and body. I’ve spent many years being shamed about who I truly am and what I want for myself. Being in such a safe space with others women fighting their own battles was so touching. There was no judgment in that room and I felt an unspoken understanding between us all. I left that day feeling grounding and accepting of myself.
